Evaluation and Reporting
Every student should be provided with many opportunities to achieve in each marking period both formally and informally. Evaluation may include assessments, quizzes, classwork, centerwork, projects, activitties, notebooks, portfolios, verbal presentation and any suitable means applied by the teachers.
Grading
Student’s attainment is evaluated according to the following numeric scale:
90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
60-69% D
0-59% R
Student’s effort evaluated using alpha scale
O Outstanding
G Good
S Satisfactory
N Need improvement
Promotion will be based on student attainment in core subjects (languages, science, math, social studies) student may retain grade 1 or 2 when school believes to be of benefit to the students. Parents may be recommended to transfer their child to another school if he fails to meet the requirements of the next grade level.
Report Cards
Report cards are issued four times a year for students in grades one and two every eight weeks . Kindergarten studdents receive report cards two times a year. Progress reports may be sent home or phone calls made to indicate a
student’s success or weaknesses by mid-marking period. In addition to scheduled conferences, parents are encouraaged to contact the classroom teacher through the office, when necessary. Final report cards are not issued until all text book and stories have been submitted to the classroom teacher in June.
Honor and Achievement Awards
Prizes and awards will be given at the end of each marking period and at the end of the year to excellence performaance in core subjects, citizenship, overall improvement, students of the year, talented students and other criteria.
