The "Student of the Month" recognition program was developed as a secondary (grades 7-12) extension of the Hayat High Five program currently in place up to Grade 6. Teachers in the Canadian and Arabic Programs are given nomination forms each month and asked to nominate TWO students in each of the classes they teach (boys and girls) who deserve to be recognized for any number of reasons. These include, but are not limited to:
Academic achievement
Demonstrated maturity/responsibility
Demonstration of civic responsibility
Kindness and/or Empathy toward others
Making good choices
Improved performance (academic or behavior)
The nominations are tallied each month and the names of all students receiving commendation are shared with the students and also parents.
Two students are then chosen from each class each month, and they receive a certificate at their monthly assembly.
The names of the winners are then posted on the Student of the Month boards (girls and boys side of the school) for all to see.
